This month, APCICT will gather the partners of its flagship capacity development programmes, hold the 7th Session of its Governing Council and organize a panel discussion during the Committee on ICT in Bangkok, Thailand.

APCICT brings together partners for strategic meetings on capacity development programmes targeting government officials and youth

This month, the Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (APCICT) will bring together national and regional level partners of its two flagship ICT capacity development initiatives; the “Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders” (Academy), and the “Primer Series on ICTD for Youth” (Primer Series). The 4th Academy Partners Meeting and the 1st Primer Series Partners meetings will be held on 06-09 November, in Incheon, Republic of Korea, and will welcome over 60 government officials, representatives from academia and development stakeholders from over 25 Asia-Pacific countries.

The 4th Academy Partners Meeting will bring together more than 40 national and regional level stakeholders from 25 countries to discuss the current status of the Academy across the region, the development and field-testing of a customized Monitoring and Evaluation Toolkit for the Academy, and plans for new modules and further implementation of the programme in the Asia-Pacific, as well as Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

The 1st Primer Series Partners Meeting will provide over 20 partners and institutions from 17 countries working to roll-out the Primer Series the opportunity to come together and share experiences and lessons learned. It will also allow for the exchange of ideas on the future strategy of the Primer Series, including the localization and translation of the Series as well as the development of new Primer issues.

APCICT convenes Seventh Session of the Governing Council of APCICT-ESCAP

On 21 November, APCICT will organize the Seventh Session of the Governing Council of APCICT-ESCAP in Bangkok, Thailand. The 7th Session will gather 9 representatives from the Governing Council’s member countries, namely Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, the Republic of Korea and Thailand.  

 

Participants of the meeting will review APCICT’s work programme and achievements since the Sixth Governing Council session held in 2011, and discuss the Centre’s plans and ICT capacity development initiatives for 2013



APCICT raises capacity-building awareness at regional United Nations ICT meeting  

Also on 21 November, APCICT will deliver a presentation and organize a panel discussion during the Third Session of the Committee on Information and Communication Technology, organized by the Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division of ESCAP. The panel discussion will include 5 representatives from APCICT partner organizations to share experiences and lessons learned in the delivery of APCICT’s capacity development programmes at the national and regional levels.  APCICT’s presentation will highlight its programmes and activities for promoting human and institutional capacities in use of ICTs for development, and underscore the importance of inclusive partnership in strengthening regional capacity-building efforts.

The third CICT session runs 20-22 November and aims to address issues related to ICT in development policies, plans and programmes, the transfer and application of ICT at the regional and subregional levels and the development of human and institutional capacity in the use of ICT.
