On 15-18 April, 2014, UN-APCICT organized its Regional Training of Trainers Workshop on Primer Series 2 on “Project Management and Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICTD)” and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) of the Primer Programme in Incheon, Republic of Korea. 23 professors of higher education institutions from 11 countries in Asia-Pacific attended the workshop on the second issue of the Primer Series on ICTD for Youth (Primer Series). Through the training sessions participants acquired the skills and techniques to effectively plan, implement and evaluate ICTD projects and to impart this learning to students in their respective universities and institutions.
“The workshop has been useful as it has provided a framework covering the complete project management cycle, which serves as the basis for scaling-up ICTD projects,” stated Ms. Heidilyn Veloso Gamido, Faculty member of Tarlac State University, Philippines.
The four-day workshop included a special session via videoconference to introduce ‘Engaged Learning’ as a way to link classroom learning to reality in community development. The session helped participants gain a better understanding of the engaged learning approach and explore possibilities for applying it in their educational programmes.
The workshop also introduced to the participants UN-APCICT’s Monitoring and Evaluation Guidebook for the Primer programme designed to help UN-APCICT’s partners measure the progress and impact of the Primer Series in their countries.
