Bangkok, Thailand - 26 Apr 2024

The Asian and Pacific Training Centre for ICT for Development (APCICT) launched the WIFI Digital Transformation (WIFI DX) Capacity Building Programme on 25 April 2024 at the United Nations Conference in Bangkok. The launch ceremony was held as a side-event of the 80th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) of Thailand.

Recent global challenges, especially the COVID-19 pandemic, have prompted the Centre to reevaluate the relevance of the Women ICT Frontier Initiative (WIFI), a flagship training programme initiated in 2016 to support women entrepreneurs. The pandemic has profoundly affected many women-led businesses in the region, underscoring the crucial need for a comprehensive and holistic approach to digital transformation.

The revamped WIFI programme, now called WIFI DX, includes a range of innovative and practical courses for women entrepreneurs. These include e-commerce and digital marketing skills to promote and grow businesses online, digital financial literacy to help manage their finances in a digital world, data analytics to understand and leverage data, trust and security to ensure the safety of online operations, and business continuity planning to prepare businesses for any potential disruptions. Each course has been developed to provide practical knowledge and skills that can be immediately applied to their businesses.

WIFI DX is designed to provide women entrepreneurs with the necessary tools to effectively manage disruptions, navigate through uncertain times, and make the most of the opportunities presented by digital transformation.
