On 18-22 May 2009, AoM successfully organized a National Academy Workshop for ICT specialists in implementing agencies of Mongolia. The workshop was conducted by local resource people from AoM, ICT and Post Authority, and INTEC Co., Ltd. who have undergone APCICT's regional training of trainers programme. Another Academy workshop for ICT specialists in Ministries and coordinating agencies is planned.
The Academy of Management (AoM), founded in 1924 as the first higher educational institute in the country and trains more than 1,500 government officials annually, has adopted and incorporated the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Learders Programme (Academy) as part of the Civil Service Council-approved Continuing Education Programme for government officials.
The Academy Programme developed by APCICT is a comprehensive ICT for development training curriculum that aims to equip policymakers with the essential knowledge and skills to fully leverage opportunities presented by ICT to achieve national development goals and bridge the digital divide.

In preparation for the Academy workshops, AoM, ICT and Post Authority, and INTEC Co. Ltd. have collaboratively worked to customize the Acadeny modules and added local case studies to enhance the relevance of the content and depict the benefits of ICTs in the context that are familiar to the audience, thus facilitating concrete understanding of the knowledge imparted.
Prior to this workshop, the first national roll-out was held on 10-12 December 2008 by the ICT and Post Authority and INTEC Co., Ltd., and supported by APCICT and the World Bank, for 55 participants including heads of departments representing 17 ministries and agencies in Mongolia.
The Academy has generated a significant amount of interest among national training institutions who have expressed their interest to roll out the Academy modules as part of their training curriculum for national government officers. National and regional training institutions that are already providing short-term training for senior- and middle-level government leaders, are encouraged to contact APCICT in delivering and customizing the modules as APCICT is committed to provide these training institutions with content of the modules, along with all accompanying materials including reading lists and case studies. Subject to funding availability, APCICT can also provide an orientation to the Academy and hands-on training for trainers.
