Azerbaijan’s Qafqaz University recently completed a 4-day pilot seminar for university students utilizing the ‘Primer Series on ICTD for Youth’ (Primer Series), APCICT’s flagship ICT for development (ICTD) capacity building programme for youth. Organized on 31 March and 01, 07 and 08 April, the seminar engaged 49 undergraduate students from 13 national universities. Students were introduced to the concept of ICTD utilizing the first issue of the Primer Series, “An Introduction to ICT for Development’.
The seminar was led by thirteen Azerbaijani facilitators trained on the Primer Series during the Training of Trainers Workshop in Baku on 8-10 February 2012. Trainers utilized the localized version of the Primer Series presentation slides, which were translated into Azeri language by faculty at Qafqaz University. Students were also engaged in collecting and presenting local case studies, which will eventually be included into the Azeri language-version of the Primer Series to be launched this August.
Qafqaz University, a leading private university located in Baku, Azerbaijan, will host a second seminar for undergraduate students from 25-28 June 2012, to coincide with the university’s National Forum on ICTD, scheduled on 28 June. Qafqaz University also plans to hold a Regional Forum on the same topic in November 2012.
