APCICT to discuss upcoming training modules at the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.
APCICT presents on new Academy modules and showcases an exhibition at the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Incheon, Republic of Korea.
On 27 October, the Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (UN-APCICT/ESCAP) will make a presentation at the 4th Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) in Incheon, Republic of Korea. The theme of the four-day Conference, which runs 25 – 28 October, is “Disaster Risk Reduction through Climate Change Adaptation”.
APCICT’s presentation will take place during a Technical Session facilitated by the Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division (IDD) of ESCAP. The presentation will centre on the latest modules of the “Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders” (Academy), APCICT’s flagship programme. The two new training modules aim to encourage the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in disaster risk reduction (Module 9) and for climate change mitigation and adaptation (Module 10). APCICT plans to deliver the new modules in the first two months of the coming year.
Apart from its presentation, APCICT will also display a new portable exhibition at the conference and distribute among AMCDRR delegates and participants two new Briefing Notes – the latest of APCICT’s ICT for Development (ICTD) Briefing Note Series. The portable exhibition is made from environmentally friendly material and will be used regularly to promote APCICT’s mission and programmes throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The two Briefing Notes are taken from Academy modules 9 and 10 and discuss current policy options and recommendations concerning the potential of ICTs to address disaster risk reduction and climate change.
