Local Korean government officials gather at regional United Nations ICT Hub to share knowledge and learn how international organizations operate in the Republic of Korea

Incheon, Republic of Korea - The United Nations Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (UN-APCICT/ESCAP), a regional institute of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, this afternoon hosted nineteen local Korean government officials participating in a field study to learn international best practices for enhancing the international competitiveness of local governments.

The officials, representing governments from the cities of Seoul, Daejeon, and Daegu, and the provinces of Gyeonggi-do, Gangwon-do, Chungcheongbuk-do, Chungcheongnam-do, Gyeongangbuk-do, and Jeollanamdo, visited APCICT in Incheon, Korea as part of a training programme initiated by the Local Government Officials Development Institute (LOGODI).  Established by the Korean Ministry of Public Administration and Security, LOGODI works to enhance the ability of local government officials in a variety of administrative capacities.

Today’s visiting local officials were keen to discuss APCICT’s strong working relationship with local and national government and, in particular, were eager to learn about APCICT’s experiences and lessons learned in organizing and managing large-scale international events and conferences in the Republic of Korea.
