APCICT announced in August 2009 that it would sponsor a candidate who completes all eight online modules on the APCICT Virtual Academy (AVA) and scored highest on the final exams. In this first round of award, which ended on 30 November 2009, Mr. Nurilla Mahamatov from Uzbekistan has been granted an expense-paid training in 2010. AVA is the online distance learning platform developed by APCICT.

APCICT is pleased to announce Mr. Nurilla Mahamatov from Uzbekistan as the winner in APCICT's first round of awards for candidates who scored highest in the final exams of all eight online modules on the APCICT Virtual Academy.



He will be sponsored by APCICT to participate in its international training event in 2010. He will learn from experts in the field of information and communication technology for development, and share experiences with senior government officials attending the workshop. Mr. Mahamatov will have the opportunity to share his online learning experience with the participants.



APCICT is also pleased to announce the second round of award. From now until 31 March 2010, the AVA member who completes all eight self-paced modules in the curriculum and obtain the highest score in the final exams will be awarded the opportunity to participate in an APCICT-organized event.



APCICT will cover the cost of the candidate’s training fees, international travel and accommodation. 



Registered members who complete all eight courses on AVA will receive by post, a printed Certificate of Completion, along with a souvenir from APCICT. Upon completion of each module, an e-certificate will be awarded.

Current AVA courses –  developed and peer reviewed by prominent ICT for development experts – include: the linkages between ICT and the Millennium Development Goals; ICT policy and governance; e-government applications; ICT trends; Internet governance; network and information security and privacy; ICT project management; and options for funding ICT for development. Additional courses on climate change and ICT and ICT for disaster risk reduction will be released next year. Development of the Bahasa Indonesia and Russian versions of AVA are scheduled to begin.
