<p>This module aims to facilitate the rationalization and development of data privacy and protection regulations in various jurisdictions. It covers fundamental aspects of data privacy, including history, theory, concepts, and evolution. The module introduces current international privacy policy frameworks and analyzes modern national regulations, focusing on their alignment with global principles. It also explores cross-border and domestic enforcement of data protection regulations, particularly addressing risks associated with third-party data transfers. Best practices, challenges, and opportunities in data privacy and protection are also examined.</p>

<p>This module presents a comprehensive overview of Open Government Data (OGD) Policy and Trends, delving into the dynamic landscape of OGD policy and legal frameworks. It emphasizes the importance of an effective governance structure that aligns with OGD policy for successful implementation. Concrete examples of the OGD implementation process, including the success of 'Open Data Portals' as initiatives fostering data accessibility, are provided.</p>

This module aims to provide policymakers, governmental officials, and managers in the public sector with knowledge and insights into developing strategies for proactive action and coping with population ageing using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The heterogeneity between countries in terms of their demographic structures and the advancement of ICT should be considered in developing solutions customized for each country’s social and cultural contexts.

This module aims to provide government leaders and policymakers in developing countries with the knowledge they need to establish a new ethical framework that includes all members of society, fosters trust among users of AI, and enables peaceful coexistence with AI in the future. The module incorporates recommendations from case studies conducted in various countries, as well as guidance from international organizations like the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). 

<p>The Briefing Note Series aims to provide at-a-glance information of key ICTD issues for policymakers and to facilitate their understanding of the potential of ICT when formulating national development policies and programmes.
