UN-APCICT, its Governing Council members, and select partners from government, academia and civil society are participating in the Fourth Session of the Committee on Information and Communications Technology (CICT), which is being held from 14 to 16 October in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Centre organized a panel session on the topic of “Regional Capacity Building on ICT for Development” on 15 October. Featuring a cross section of APCICT’s national partners, the panel examined the status of ICTD capacity building in Asia and the Pacific and discussed how the changing ICT landscape is influencing regional capacity development efforts. The session also provided a venue to exchange ideas on what ICTD human capacity development priorities are emerging, and the regional and national strategies that will be required to adjust to the emerging sustainable development priorities.
To promote the ICTD human capacity building efforts of the Centre’s national partners and demonstrate the institutionalization of APCICT’s flagship programmes, the Centre is also organizing an exhibit throughout the duration of the CICT session. The exhibit features the Centre’s various Academy Modules and Primer issues and their localized versions. It also showcases a digital poster session introducing the ICTD capacity building efforts of several partner organizations. By using ICT in the exhibit, APCICT’s partners who are not able to join CICT in person are still able to contribute to this regional event.
