
The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology of the Republic of Maldives and APCICT/ESCAP organized a High-Level Briefing on Digital Government on 23 June 2021. The virtual event aimed to deepen understanding among the country’s policymakers on how digital government can advance the sustainable agenda and their roles as champions of effective digital policies and programme. It was attended by high-level and senior officials across ministries as well as by members of the Parliament.
The Briefing showcased APCICT’s latest Academy Module on Digital Government and Transformation. It examined global and regional trends on digital government and provided recommendations on how the Maldives can accelerate its e-Government development. It also emphasized the importance of access and connectivity as critical foundations for effective digital transformation. The event featured speakers from APCICT/ESCAP, the United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG), and the World Wide Web Foundation.
