National TOT on Data-Driven Governance
The Philippines National Launch and Training of Trainers on Data-Driven Governance was held in Manila on 26-28 February 2019, marking the first national roll-out of APCICT’s latest Academy Module on “Realizing Data-Driven Governance”. This module was developed to inform policymakers and civil servants on the role of accurate, accessible, timely and reliable data in enhancing governance, formulating national policies and strategies, and delivering services.
Regional Training of Trainers on Data-Driven Governance
APCICT organized the Regional Training of Trainers (ToT) on Data-Driven Governance on 5-7 December 2018 in Incheon, Republic of Korea. The ToT marked the initial roll-out of the Centre’s latest Academy training module on “Data-Driven Governance”. The module is designed for government officials in developing countries and aims to help them understand the role of accurate, accessible, timely and reliable data in enhancing governance, formulating national policies and strategies, and delivering services.
Uzbek - Korean Round Table
APCICT participated in the Uzbek-Korean Roundtable on “The current state and prospects of the development of multifaceted cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea” held on 8 October 2018 in Incheon. Mr. Kiyoung Ko, Director of APCICT, delivered a presentation on Digital Economy Development in Korea. The Roundtable was attended by 30 government officials from Uzbekistan.
Women ICT Frontier Initiative (WIFI) Workshops for Women Entrepreneurs of Cambodia
Following the National Launch of Women ICT Frontier Initiative (WIFI) in Cambodia, the Secretariat of One Village One Product and APCICT conducted series of training workshop from 31 August – 14 December 2018 across 5 provinces (Kampot, Sihanouk Ville, Kampong Cham, Siem Reap, and Battambang) of Cambodia. Attended by 195 local women entrepreneurs, women entrepreneur associations, and students, the training aimed to strengthen their skills and knowledge in utilizing ICT in planning and managing business.
13th Session of the Governing Council of APCICT/ESCAP
The 13th Session of the APCICT Governing Council was held on 31 August 2018 in Bangkok, in conjunction with the Second Session of the ESCAP Committee on Information and Communications Technology, Science, Technology and Innovation (CICTSTI), which took place on 29-31 August 2018.
Consultative Meeting on Data-Driven Governance
APCICT organized a Consultative Meeting on Data-Driven Governance on 29-31 August 2018 in Bangkok, in conjunction with the Second Session of the ESCAP Committee on Information and Communications Technology, Science, Technology and Innovation and the 13th Session of the APCICT Governing Council.
Academy Workshop for Government Executive Officials of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar
On 2-5 July 2018, the Asian and Pacific Training Centre for ICT for Development, in cooperation with the Union Civil Service Board (UCSB) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, conducted a 4-day ICTD capacity-building workshop for senior government officials of the country. It covered two modules of the Centre’s Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders programme: “An Overview of ICTs and Sustainable Development” and “ICT Trends for Government Leaders”.
Visit of Russian Academy of Sciences
Representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and APCICT had held a dialogue meeting on 28-29 May 2018 in Incheon.
The meeting had provided an opportunity to discuss respective programmes and explore potential collaboration among the Centre, the ICT and Disaster Risk Reduction Division of ESCAP, and RAS. In addition, meetings with relevant organizations in Korea was also held on 29 May to foster exchange of information and networking.
Academy Workshop for Senior Government Officials of Myanmar
APCICT, in cooperation with the Union Civil Service Board (UCSB) of Myanmar, had conducted an Academy workshop for the country’s senior government officials on 19-23 March 2018 at the Central Institute of Civil Service (Lower Myanmar). The Centre had introduced three Academy modules: ICT Trends for Government Leaders (Module 4); e-Government Applications (Module 3); and Information Security and Privacy (Module 6).
