In an effort to strengthen the capacities of women entrepreneurs to use ICT applications in support of financial decision making and business growth, Samoa Business Hub (SBH) organized a series of community-level trainings in Savaii, from 6 to 16 April 2021, under the “ICT Accelerate” project. 

In an effort to strengthen the knowledge and capacities of government officials at the national and local levels in South and South West Asian countries in using Information and Communication Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction, APCICT held a Virtual Training on Digital Technologies for Disaster Risk Management, from 1 to 5 March 2021. 

Social media has emerged in recent years as a powerful and widespread communication platform, and is now being used in a wide range of areas such as public administration, rural development, environmental protection, education, public health, combating corruption, and disaster communication and management, among others. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the critical role of technologies in moving forward to the new normal, as countries and organizations are leveraging emerging technologies to redefine work and Build Back Better.

In celebration of the Samoa Cybersecurity Week, APCICT/ESCAP conducted a webinar on “Information Security and Privacy”, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of Samoa. The virtual training was held on 24 and 25 February 2021.  

Local Governments, being the first respondents and the ones responsible for community development, have a critical role to play in managing disaster risks, protecting their citizens, and achieving community resilience. Recognizing the important role of the local government in disaster risk management, APCICT/ESCAP is developing an Academy Module on “ICT for Disaster Risk Management for Local Government”, aiming to equip local government officials with the essential knowledge and skills to understand the overall framework of disaster risk management and the practic

In line with its efforts to promote data protection and privacy in ASEAN countries, the Asian and Pacific Training Center for ICT for Development (APCICT) under the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific conducted a virtual seminar on Data Privacy Law for Myanmar.

The event was co-organized with the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), Information Technology and Cyber Security Department, Ministry of Transport and Communications of Myanmar and was held from 25 to 28 January 2021.

The Samoa Business Hub (SBH) and APCICT/ESCAP organized a Training of Trainers: Enhancing the capacities of women entrepreneurs in Samoa on using ICT tools in their businesses on 21 January 2021, in Apia, Samoa. The TOT aims to strengthen capacities of SBH’s trainers in providing training support to women entrepreneurs on using digital tools in financial management and is part of the "ICT Accelerate" initiative.

The E-Commerce Development Centre (EDC), Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam and APCICT/ESCAP organized a Training of Trainers on E-Commerce Application for Women Entrepreneurs and Women-Owned Small Businesses in Viet Nam from 18 to 23 December 2020 in Hanoi. The training aims to enhance the business knowledge and practical skills of trainers in the areas of e-commerce, digital marketing and communication, as well as cross-border e-commerce.   

In an effort to help ASEAN Member States enhance their data privacy regimes, APCICT organized a virtual training seminar on “Data Privacy Laws in ASEAN”, in collaboration with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) of the Republic of the Philippines, from 30 November to 3 December 2020.
