Concluded Events

In partnership with the Public Administration Academy of the Republic of Armenia, the Asian and Pacific Training Centre for ICT for Development (APCICT/ESCAP) held a Virtual Training of Trainers on Women ICT Frontier Initiative in Armenia on 28-31 March 2022.

This virtual training follows the Centre's continuous efforts in strengthening women entrepreneurship, following the National Launch of the “Women ICT Frontier Initiative” (WIFI) programme and subsequent Training of Trainers in Armenia (2017). 

In its continuous effort to strengthen the capacities of government officials on the use of ICT for disaster risk management, the Asian and Pacific Training Centre for ICT for Development (APCICT/ESCAP) is conducting a training on Digital Technologies for Disaster Risk Management for Sri Lanka from 21 to 25 February 2022.

The Sixteenth Session of the APCICT Governing Council was held virtually on 25 November 2021.

The Session brought together the nine Council members - Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Russian Federation, Sri Lanka, Thailand and the Republic of Korea, host country - to review the administration, financial status and progress of implementation of the Centre’s programmes. 

In collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology of the Republic of the Maldives, the Asian and Pacific Training Centre for ICT for Development (APCICT/ESCAP) conducted a Webinar on Data Protection and Privacy for Media/Information Officers and Journalists, from 16 to 18 November 2021.

The Asian and Pacific Training Centre for ICT for Development, in partnership with the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of the Republic of Korea organized a Webinar on Data-Driven Governance from 9 to 12 November 2021. 

The Asian and Pacific Training Centre for ICT for Development (APCICT/ESCAP) conducted a Virtual Review of the Draft Module on ICT Project Management Theory and Application for Digital Transformation project on 3 November 2021. The virtual meeting was convened with the objective of soliciting comments and feedback to ensure the module’s quality, accessibility, and relevance to the target audience of project leaders and civil servants.

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digital transformation in many countries in Asia and the Pacific and shown some success. However, successful digital transformation will require strategy, policymaking and capacity building and means to effectively harness technology for governance and sustainable development.  

The Asian and Pacific Training Centre for ICT for Development (APCICT/ESCAP), in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology of the Republic of the Maldives, held a High-Level Briefing on Data Protection and Privacy for senior government officials on 12 October 2021.

As the Pacific sub-region is still in the early stages of developing and improving national ICT infrastructure and cybersecurity capabilities, assistance is required in building cybersecurity capability, formulating guiding frameworks for long-term national cybersecurity and addressing information security and privacy gaps.
