Joint Workshop to promote ICTD capacity building and collaboration between Africa and Asia-Pacific

On 15-18 April 2014, UN APCICT will organize the Capacity Building Workshop on E-Government, Information Security and Privacy in collaboration with the Telecommunications Technology Association of the Republic of Korea in Incheon, Republic of Korea.

The workshop will convene 26 government officials, policymakers and civil servant trainers from 9 developing countries in Asia-Pacific and 6 countries from Africa to raise awareness on ways that ICT can be applied in different areas of government and build their capacity for information security policy formulation.

Training sessions will deliver content on Module 3 ‘e-Government Applications’ and Module 6 ‘Information Security and Privacy’ of UN APCICT’s flagship programme Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders . To enrich this learning experience and promote cooperation between Asia-Pacific and Africa, participants will have the opportunity to exchange opinions, discuss challenges and share good practices on topics covered during this four-day training event.

About the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders

Since its launch in 2008, the Academy programme has been adopted and rolled-out in 27 countries in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Its comprehensive 11-module curriculum has been helping government officials and policymakers in their capacity-building efforts by providing knowledge and skills on how to leverage ICT for national and regional socio-economic development. Currently, Academy modules are available in 12 languages, with plans for more translations underway.
