UN-APCICT has developed an Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders consisting of eight core modules that include basic knowledge and skills required to full leverage opportunities presented by ICTs to achieve national development goals, as well as more advanced topics such as Internet governance, network security and public-private partnerships.
The Academy modules have been customized for government leaders of the Pacific Island countries, and will be held for the first time in the Pacific on 2-5 September 2008 in the Cook Islands. The four-day training workshop will coincide with PacINET 2008, an annual ICT for development conference.
Three modules will be customized and delivered at the workshop, namely:
1 - The Linkage between ICT Applications and Development
2 - ICT for Development Policy, Process and Governance
3 - e-Government Applications
The Academy training workshop is being coordinated by a graduate of the Academy, Mr. Siaosi Sovaleni, ICT Adviser at the Pacific Islands Applied Geoscience Commission.
