The Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders is a flagship capacity building initiative of UN-APCICT. It is comprised of eight modules ranging from basic to more advanced topics on information and communication technology for development (ICT4D).
During April and May 2008, three sub-regional training of trainers workshops will be held for participants from South Asia, South-East Asia, and Western and Central Asia. The second of three sub-regional workshops will be held on 5-10 May 2008 in Incheon, Republic of Korea.
Participants will be trained on:
- ICT Trends for Government Leaders
- Internet Governance
- Network and Information Security and Privacy
Feedback from participants on the usefulness and relevance of the training methodology and materials will be used to fine-tune the modules prior to the official launch of the Academy on 16 June 2008.
The eight modules are divided into three clusters. The first cluster deals with the link between ICT and the Millennium Development Goals, ICT policy-making, and e-government applications (which was delivered in Hyderabad, India for South Asian participants on 14-19 April 2008). The second cluster deals with ICT tools and technologies, Internet security, and Internet governance (to be at this training workshop). The third cluster deals with ICT project management and funding (to be delivered in Jakarta, Indonesia for South-East Asian participants on 21-24 May 2008).
