Academy National Workshop: Application of ICT in Public Administration
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Uzbekistan, in collaboration with the United Nations Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (UN-APCICT/ESCAP), the Uzbekistan Agency for Communication and Information (UzACI), and Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT) will carry-out a two-day workshop to equip government officials in Uzbekistan with the skills and knowledge to leverage ICT for socio-economic development.
PIF Official's e-Government Workshop
UN-APCICT/ESCAP, in collaboration with the Pacific Island Forum (PIF) and the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT), will administer a training workshop to government officials from the Pacific Island countries in Incheon, Korea.

United Nations APCICT-ESCAP and the Civil Service Selection and Training Board (CSSTB) of Myanmar will run a week-long training workshop to launch the “Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders” (Academy) programme in the country from 29 March to 3 April 2010 in Pyin Oo Lwin, near Mandalay. Over 50 senior government officials from numerous ministries are expected to participate in the workshop.

Pacific Islands Forum Officials e-Government Workshop 2009
On 12-23 October 2009, government officials from Pacific Island states will take part in an intensive e-government training in the Republic of Korea, organized by the Pacific Islands Forum and the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, with support from APCICT. APCICT will deliver Academy sessions on e-government and ICT project management.
First National Academy Workshop in Kyrgyzstan
This workshop will be held on 5-7 October in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The workshop is being led by APCICT's Academy partner, the National Information Technology Center (NITC) of Kyrgyzstan. ICT policymakers from 25 government ministries and agencies have been invited to participate in the workshop. The opening ceremony of the workshop will be presided over by the Head of the Prime Minister Office, Mr. Nurlan Aitmurzaev. Representatives from the UNDP Kyrgyz Office will also attend the workshop.
IT Capacity Building Programme for Women in the APEC Region
APCICT is supporting the design and delivery of the IT Capacity Building Programme for Women in the APEC Region, in Seoul, Republic of Korea on 7-18 September 2009. This is an annual training programme organized by the Korean Ministry of Gender Equality (MOGE). This year 25 women policymakers from 12 APEC economies will participate in the programme.
Launch of Russian Version of the Academy
The official launch of the Russian version of the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders Programme will commence on 30 September 2009 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The event will be co-organized by APCICT and the Central Asian Research and Education Network, and hosted by the Tajik Research and Educational Network Association. It will be followed by an inaugural Academy training workshop.
National Academy Workshop in Samoa
APCICT together with Samoa’s Ministry of Communications and SOPAC will conduct a one-day Academy training workshop on 10 July 2009 for policymakers and heads of department of various government ministries of Samoa, as well as delegates of the "Using ICT for Effective Disaster Management Pacific Forum 2009." This is a post-event of the Pacific Forum.
First National Academy Workshop in Timor-Leste
The first in a series of national Academy workshops for high-level government officials in Timor-Leste will take place in Dili on 7-10 July 2009. APCICT in partnership with the Directorate National for ICT, Ministry of Infrastructure and the Academy team at the University of Indonesia is organizing this workshop. Fifty participants will be trained on modules 1 and 2 of the Academy curriculum.
IT Capacity Building Programme for Women in the APEC region: Indonesia
At the request of Indonesia’s Ministry of Women’s Empowerment (MOWE), APCICT is providing advisory support in designing and delivering a training programme on 25-29 May 2009 in Jakarta, Indonesia, in partnership with the Korean Ministry of Gender Equality (MOGE) and the Korea Productivity Center.

Third National Academy Workshop in Indonesia

As part of the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders Programme, a national training of trainers workshop will be held in Kabul, Afghanistan on 31 May - 4 June 2009, in collaboration with Afghanistan’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT), for high and mid-level government officials who will serve as trainers to replicate the workshop in other parts of the country. This is the first in a series of workshops that will be held in Afghanistan as part of the National Academy Programme.
Launch of the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders in Africa
In collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission of Africa (ECA), APCICT will launch the African version of the Academy on 3 March 2009 as a pre-event workshop of the International Conference on Development of an Equitable Information Society: The Role of Parliaments in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Second Regional Training of Trainers Workshop: Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders
APCICT will be organizing its Second Regional Training of Trainers (TOT) Academy Workshop in Seongnam, Republic of Korea on 9-14 March 2009. Over 40 participants comprised of trainers from National Training Institute and senior government officials from ICT ministries in 18 Asia Pacific countries, as well as representatives from five international organizations from different continents are expected to participate in this workshop.
National Academy Workshop in Tonga
APCICT, in collaboration with Tonga’s Ministry of Finance and the Pacific Islands Applied Geoscience Commission (SOPAC), will be organizing a two-day training workshop in Nukuálofa on 24-25 February 2009. The workshop is based on an APCICT training curriculum, the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders, but with modifications so that it is now customized to suit Tonga’s context.
National Academy Workshop in the Philippines
As part of APCICT’s Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders Programme, a national training of trainers workshop is held in Tagaytay City, Philippines on 17-19 February 2009. The workshop, co-organized with the Career Executive Service Board (CESB) and the Development Academy of the Philippines, targets 27 participants from 17 government agencies who will serve as trainers to replicate the workshop in other parts of the Philippines. An official ceremony to sign an agreement between APCICT and CESB to roll-out the Academy Programme in the Philippines is held during the opening session of the workshop.
Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders - National Workshop in Mongolia
On 10-12 December 2008 the very first official national level roll-out of the Academy will be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia for 50 senior government officials. The workshop is being co-organized by Mongolia’s Information and Communication Technology Authority, INTEC Co., Ltd. and APCICT.
Pacific Islands Forum Officials e-Government Workshop 2008
On 17-31 October 2009, government officials from Pacific Island states will take part in an intensive e-government training in the Republic of Korea, organized by the Pacific Islands Forum, the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Global e-Policy and e-Government Institute of Sungkyunkwan University, with support from APCICT. APCICT will deliver Academy sessions on e-government.
Workshop on the Enhancement of ICT Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities
The workshop, co-organized by ESCAP’s Social Development Division and UN-APCICT will be participated by 20 experts from the fields of disability and ICT, from six different Asian countries.

A sub-regional training workshop on the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders will be held on 2-5 September 2008 in Rarotonga, Cook Islands for Pacific Island Country participants.
Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders - Training of Trainers for National Training Institutes
The Academy will be launched at the OECD Ministerial Meeting on the Future of the Internet Economy on 16 June 2008, which is also APCICT’s second anniversary. Subsequently, APCICT will be organizing the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders - Training of Trainers for National Training Institutes in the Republic of Korea from 16 to 28 June 2008 for over 40 trainers from 30 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Training Course for the Production of Statistics on the Information Economy
The Training Course for the Production of Statistics on the Information Economy will take place on 18-22 February 2008 in Incheon, Republic of Korea. This is the first time this course will be delivered in the Asia-Pacific region for Asia-Pacific participants. It will be hosted by APCICT, and delivered in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the United Nations Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (UNSIAP).
Distance Learning on e-Business Strategies
This distance learning course on e-Business Strategies will be offered from 29 January – 27 April 2007 as a joint collaboration with the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) and financial support from Microsoft. More than 350 government officials and business managers will participate in the course. Modules to be taughut include best practices of e-business and commerce. The participants will design e-store websites using the software templates developed by ADBI. Participants will be able to use the websites to sell their products and services online. This course will be managed by the Asian eLearning Company in Nepal.
First Regional Training - Planning, Designing, Implementing and Managing e-Government: Key Issues, Case Studies and Lessons Learned
UN-APCICT will organize a Training Programme entitled: Planning, Designing, Implementing and Managing e-Government: Key Issues, Case Studies and Lessons Learned. The Training Programme will be held from 7 to 9 March 2007 at UN-APCICT, Incheon, Republic of Korea in conjunction with the Regional Forum on ICT Capacity Building: Where are we, where are we going and what will it take to fill the gap. The Training Programme is a joint collaboration with the Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency (KIPA).
International Entrepreneurship Training for Women: APEC Women’s e-Biz Training
UN-APCICT, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), APEC Women’s e-Biz Center and the Asian Pacific Women’s Information Network Center (APWINC) will co-organize the International Entrepreneurship Training for Women: APEC Women’s e-Biz Training 2007 (WeBiz 2007) on 16 - 21 July 2007 in Sookmyung Women’s University, Seoul, Republic of Korea. The training course seeks to equip women with knowledge, skills and confidence to become the entrepreneurs in the new knowledge-based society.
Second Planning, Designing, Implementing, and Managing e-Government Training: Key Issues, Case Studies, and Lessons Learned
The week-long training workshop on 8-12 October 2007 in Incheon, Republic of Korea, will attract about 40 high-level officials from national ICT ministries and planning agencies in 21 countries. Participants will share their experiences and learn good practices on developing e-Government strategies. They will also strengthen their understanding of the technologies currently available for building e-Government applications and e-Services.
Training for Women’s IT Capacity Building in the APEC Region
UN-APCICT, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Asian Pacific Women’s Information Network Center (APWINC), Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (Republic of Korea), and Ministry for Women’s Empowerment (Republic of Indonesia) collaborate to organize this training course for 30 female representatives from Women Empowerment Unit and Communication and Information Office at both province and district levels of Indonesia.
